Under the new regime, many people in the galaxy were afraid or otherwise distrustful of droids, due to their bad memories of the conflict. Many sentients continued the Clone Wars policies of wiping droids' memories , fitting them with restraining bolts, and curtailing their movements.
Several establishments also excluded droids. The Rebel Alliance , which opposed the Empire, treated droids not as property but as sentient beings. The Rebellion's acceptance of droids as equals was continued by the New Republic and Resistance. Droids were mechanical constructs designed to assist organic lifeforms in various tasks.
Depending on the nature of the work they performed, they possessed various degrees of artificial intelligence. Notable exceptions included security droids [11] and assassin droids. Droids came in all sizes and shapes, and many of them resembled humanoid organics, possessing an upright posture, two arms, two legs, hands, feet, one thorax, a neck, and a head.
Contrary to organics, who were born and healed slowly, [15] droids were easily built en masse, were less fragile, and could be repaired easily. Most droids possessed a form of self-awareness, with advanced models even having emotions such as fear for their existence.
They were capable of surviving in a vacuum and underwater, and were immune to all poisons and toxins. Because they were not technically alive, droids could not access the Force , [16] an energy field that connected all living things in the galaxy. Droids were usually completely obedient and precise, and normally followed their proprietors' orders. Unlike mere machines or primitive computers, droids were capable of developing unique personalities by gathering experiences.
They could form friendships, and experience emotions such as happiness, pain, and sadness. It was the nature of less complex droids to assume that if a human acted as if they belonged somewhere, then that human did belong there.
Droids were considered not to be very tasty by the nightwatcher worms , a non-sentient predatory species native to the planet Jakku. As a result, the BB-series astromech droid BB-8 was not eaten by a nightwatcher worm following his escape from the First Order 's attack on Tuanul.
Droids could be entrusted with a multitude of tasks, ranging from running elementary diagnostics to performing complicated medical procedures, or sending communications to flying starships. After Rey left the others behind, D-O stated that he missed her.
Finn asked the droid his name, but then learned that D-O had a lot of information on Exegol, which was Ochi's intended destination before his death. The information kept by D-O, crossed with a live transmission sent by Rey piloting Red Five , allowed the Resistance to locate Exegol and the Sith Eternal's Final Order , giving them a fighting chance at stopping the destruction that could be wrought.
After a hard fought battle, and the arrival of the Citizens' Fleet , the Sith Eternal was defeated, and the Emperor vanquished once and done for all. D-O joined the celebrations with his new friends, never again to be a slave to evil. Originally, Abrams' voice was supposed to be temporary, but screenwriter Chris Terrio watched a few cuts with Abrams' voice as D-O and felt that the anxious politeness in Abrams' performance was perfect for the droid. Other actors were considered, but Terrio convinced the director to keep the voice.
The droid was partially inspired by ducklings. In terms of personality, D-O was based on Terrio's dog George, whom Terrio had rescued from an abusive owner.

Oh, it's the one with the iconic power symbol on it. T-Mobile, nothing. Verizon, nothing.
Target, nothing. So, what we're gonna do is I am going to go data-only, sort of. My current phone will be my WiFi hot spot, and this phone will talk to it. Here's what I'm going to look out for: I'm gonna track how long the battery lasts. I'm gonna see how terrible the camera is. I'm gonna see how long I can operate with the current operating system before I update. And then, after I do that, I'm going to see if I can download and use any of my apps. I gotta watch Instagram stories. Using this phone 10 years later is a lot like using no phone at all.
I cannot update the OS. There is no app store. The app store is the Android Marketplace, which became defunct in when they replaced it with the Google Play store. The Google Play store can only be used on Jelly Bean or higher, which is 4. So basically I can't do anything but take pictures and listen to music. The camera is not bad. There's only one; it's only 5 megapixels, so all the photos look like something my mom would take, but they're I was able to take a photo on the Droid and upload it straight to Facebook onto my News Feed, which I was honestly super impressed by.
I wasn't able to tag anybody or add a caption, so there's just a random photo of my coworkers on my feed with no context, but it did work. It is updating the News Feed in somewhat real time, but you can only get two posts at a time, only text posts, profile pictures and usernames do not show up, and if you try and click older posts to update the News Feed, then the whole app shuts down.
