We are letting go of whatever we've been trying to do on our own so God can do what only He can do. Surrendering to God is literally giving up. It is telling God that we are not big enough to deal with our worries, and He must take over. When we finally let go, we give God room to wield His mighty arm in our lives. Giving it to God simply means to put your complete faith in God to work things out for your good and to know that, ultimately, it is His will and not your own, that determines the outcome.
Letting go and letting God is a daily, moment-by-moment choice. Like every discipline in life, we must learn to surrender and give it to God. The enemy seeks every new day to cloud our minds with worries, doubts, and fears. The devil wants there to be no room left for God in our lives. To let go and let God becomes a lifestyle of daily giving it all to Him. Whenever the ugly hairs of negatives thoughts seek to invade our space, we must cut them and give them to God immediately.
Renewing our minds in Christ means letting go of all the burdens He died to take from us. Let go and let God have control. Let go and let God have your worry and fears. Let go and let God have your finances. Let go and let God have your future. Be sure to visit our extensive list of places to find printable Bible study and prayer resources! However, God needs space to move in our lives. We can clear out all the debris that is clogging up our minds and learn to surrender to Him.
Control is the hardest thing to give up because without it we feel vulnerable. But we do not need to worry. God is already in control. We need to recognize His authority and move over to let Him lead.
He is the Creator of the Universe so we can trust Him with each day. As we pivot to make-do, a host of precautions and changes inspire anxiety. The Father offers us peace amidst financial challenges, sickness, or bipolar disorder.
Have you ever turned back to deal with an issue and realized it was more manageable than you expected? To really see, we have to be looking. Joseph waited and watched—and was rewarded. Jonah was distraught when the Lord saved wicked Nineveh from destruction. Even while Jonah sinned in his heart, God offered comfort by growing a tree to shade him from the hot sun.
But instead of taking comfort, Jonah nestled into resentment and the tree withered. If Jonah had remembered that God had just given him a second chance, he might not have begrudged Nineveh theirs. Often, comfort goes hand-in-hand with gratitude. Give thanks that the Lord has saved you; that He is close and loving. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.
When trouble comes, our lives are on the threshing room floor We have the opportunity to re-establish priorities and put God in the center, perhaps for the first time, maybe for the first time in a while. I feel His comforting closeness and discern His direction. This powerful and popular phrase is not merely encouragement to leave everything to fate or chance. We might as well forget the cross and the resurrection but, then, what basis would we have for faith at all?
God never instructed Moses to write these words. The idea is there, but more fully realized, and with a different emphasis. Nurture fellowship. We adore our ambitions, hold them in high regard, and take pride in them.
We believe that people should behave in a specific way and that life should go according to our plans. We expect God to honor our desires, but He frequently chooses better ones. Having a sense of entitlement in everything that we do gives us an internal impression that we cannot let go and cannot let God but instead be entitled to be heard as humans.
This idea disables us to feel that God is the only one in control and that we cannot do anything but let go. Sometimes, we believe in ourselves too much. We think we can change the situation only because we have achieved so much or have solved so many problems.
But the truth is, it is God who solves it for us by giving us the wisdom to discern. We are but His lowly servants. So, what should we be doing instead? We must confess to God for our sense of entitlement and submit to Him so that He may feel our humility. Aside from letting go of our sense of entitlement, we should also try to let go of our doubts. What are doubts? These are thoughts that cripple us to the extent wherein we question the existence of God. This brings us back to the sense of entitlement in the first part of this article.
This not only makes our relationship with God vile, but it also makes our faith vague.
