Since Spotify is all about delivering the music you want, we built in a quick and easy setting that helps you filter out songs that might not be appropriate for everyone in your house or car to hear. To change that, you simply have to toggle one specific setting. To do that, follow these steps:. Enter the title of the song into the search bar on Spotify, either on your mobile device or on your computer, then choose the version of the song not marked as explicit.
Day 1: I find "Thrift Shop - explicit" on Spotify and add it to my playlist. Note: At this point in the scenario, there is no edited version available on Spotify.
Day 2: Spotify adds an edited version to their library, so there are now two versions available: Explicit and Edited. Day 3: I play my playlist, and due to some magic bug, Spotify has automatically switched out the Explicit song with the Edited version. I've been able to replicate this with multiple songs and artists K'naan is another example.
I'll start keeping more detailed track of artists, songs, and dates when this happens. Now that you mention that - often times the issue does appear when I'm listening to a track on my iPhone that I created using the desktop Windows app. I have to.. I know and it definitely censored.
Here's the funny part-- I listen to it on my iPad and iPhone and it's not censored-- it sounds just like it did when I Starred it when listeneing to the radio. I tried the original solution to remove and then re-add the song s and it didn't work even though it only shows one 1 version of this particular song. I notice this thread was created nearly five 5 months ago.
This issue needs to be reinvestigated, if it was even in the first place. That doesn't really solve the problem. That being that I never know if the album I'm about to listen to is explicit like it was last time or censored. Killer Mike's R. Music is a good example. Some times that album's explicit, some times not.
Macklemore's The Heist wasn't in December, but now it is. I just started having this problem with the new update. The Big K. Return of 4EVA album plays the radio edit no matter which version of the song I click on.
This happens whether I play the song on my mobile device or if I directly click the explicit version on my PC. Is there any solution to this?

I'd expect any album that is uploaded in a "clean" version will also have its uncensored version uploaded too.
Occasionally, the uncensored version doesn't appear, but that will be an error. I don't think that we should stop clean versions being uploaded because some people actually want to listen to them, or at least need to play them that way sometimes.
I actually listen to Spotify from my desk at work, and cannot have swearing coming from my computer speakers. I would like to know if there is a feature or a method of searching in spotify to eliminate any explicite songs from my "Work Safe" Mix so i don't have to worry about manually filtering my playlists.
Pandora has this feature, which is why its been my player of choice lately. Can i tell spotify to some how NOT show me any explicite songs? Spotify doesn't have this kind of filter at the moment, unfortunately.
It's something I would like to see. Many customers report being in a similar situation, especially those listening with children or elderly relatives. Is there any way to view the duplicate albums from the iPhone app? Ever since the recent update, I can only view the censored version of an album, and it's really aggravating that everything I listen to is censored.

There are many artists that have no explicit version, only a censored version so far Usually I can find the non-butchered version but usually the buthered version is the one that shows up first and ends up on my playlist. Awe I am glad I found this, I was about to cancel Spotify cause I thought it only had clean versions of my fav rap songs! Thanks for the tip, you guys should really make it show both versions much easier to search because I really was about to go to the competition because this is easily overlooked.
